Thank you for doing something amazing for your local Hospice!

This year, we have never needed your support more. Ashgate is continuing to respond to the challenge of coronavirus in our community and provide the exceptional end of life care for which we are known both on our Inpatient Unit at Old Brampton in Chesterfield and in the community.

Coronavirus has also presented us with huge ongoing funding challenges. Our retail and coffee shops were closed for several months and are just starting to reopen; and many of our fundraising events have been cancelled or postponed. In our thirty-year history, we have never faced a challenge like this.

Below are some tips below to help you raise vital funds for Ashgate Hospicecare whilst Sparkling at home. Every £1 raised will make a huge difference. So, thank you for your support. We wouldn’t be here without it.

How to fundraise

There are so many ways you can raise your sponsorship money. Take a look at just a few ways you can fundraise for the Sparkle Night Walk.

5km, 10km or 100km, pick a distance that suits you! As much as we are encouraging people to complete their challenge between 8pm and 10pm, if you want to take your challenge to the next level such as walking 100km over a day or a week, then of course you can do it outside of this time. 50p for every km? An extra £1 for every blister? You decide!

Whether you’re a budding Paula Radcliffe or you’ve just downloaded Couch to 5K and need motivation to get started, why not run for Sparkle this year? Get sponsored for a challenging distance on the night or build up the miles over the course of the week to cross the virtual finish line at 10pm.

Do you have an exercise bike? Why not set a virtual finish line of your own and cycle towards that on the night or over the course of a week or a month? You could cycle the distance from your home to the hospice, to a place that means something special to you or tackle a mammoth challenge like Land's End to John O'Groats (it's 837 miles though, so make sure you start early!)

Why don't you set yourself a Tik Tok challenge? See how many you can learn in the lead up to 10pm. Every completed Tik Tok is worth at least a £1 surely? See how much your friends and family are willing to sponsor you for each one. The difficulty of the Tik Tok could even determine the amount. Learning a dance routine is not for everyone, so you may just want to have a disco in your kitchen! People could put in song requests for you to dance to and donate £5.
