What is the Ashgate Hospicecare Virtual Sparkle Night?
The Ashgate Hospicecare Virtual Sparkle Night is an event that you are able to do from the comfort of your own home, within your local area or anywhere that you please.

Just like last year, we are asking you to walk, run, cycle or dance in support of Ashgate Hospicecare. Don’t let this limit you though. You can do whatever Sparkle challenge that works for you during September, as long as you are able to make it pink and get sponsored!

 

Do I have to do my own 10km walk?
Put simply, no! We’re asking you to walk, run, cycle or dance. As long as it’s a challenge for you and will inspire your friends and family to sponsor you, that’s fine! We also encourage you to think outside the box if you can and come up with other fun, safe and enjoyable activities!
Whether it’s 10k bike ride or a disco in your kitchen to up your step count, just make sure you wear those sparkly bunny ears and your pink Sparkle T-shirt.

 

When is Ashgate Hospicecare’s Virtual Sparkle Night?
This year, Virtual Sparkle will run throughout the whole of September, so you can take on your virtual challenge at any point throughout the month.

 

Where does the Ashgate Hospicecare Virtual Sparkle Night take place?
It’s up to you! We just ask you to Sparkle safely and responsibly in support of the hospice.

 

What does the Virtual Sparkle Night finish?
Running throughout the whole of September 2021, the event will officially finish on Thursday 30th September at midnight.

 

What will my £10 registration fee go towards?
Even though your participation won’t be at the physical event, included in your £10 is a Sparkle t-shirt, bunny ears, sponsor forms, a fundraising pack and your medal. Your £10 will go towards covering the costs, but it’s your sponsorship that will really make a difference to patients and their families across North Derbyshire.

 

I can no longer take part in this event, what do I need to do?
If you can no longer take part, please do let us know so no resources go to waste. If you email set@ashgatehospicecare.org.uk we’ll do everything we can to redistribute your fundraising pack to another participant. If you have collected any sponsorship money, please pay it in online here. We are currently restricting non-essential visitors to the hospice as well as to our Fundraising Hub at Hasland until further notice, so if you would like to pay in your sponsorship money in person, then please get in touch at events@ashgatehospicecareorg.uk to let us know.

 

How much do I need to raise?
There is no minimum sponsorship amount, but we’d encourage you to set yourself a target to add to your challenge. By fundraising for the hospice, you will be helping to ensure that Ashgate Hospicecare will be here for the future so that we can continue to support the people in our community who need us the most.
Everyone who raises £100 or more and hands in their sponsorship money by Monday 8th November 2021, will be entered into a prize draw to win an exciting prize.

 

How will I go about raising sponsorship money if Covid-19 restrictions become stricter again?
Don’t worry, we have thought of some brilliant virtual fundraising ideas for you! There are still plenty of ways to have some fun and raise some money for Ashgate Hospicecare whilst keeping safe. You will find a range of ideas in your fundraising pack, but as you won’t be receiving these until August, you can click here for some ideas in the meantime.

 

Who can take part?
Absolutely anyone! The best thing about Virtual Sparkle is that it’s fun for all the family! So please do spread the word and let people know that no matter how young, old, or furry (yes, dogs can take part too), they can sign up to Virtual Sparkle today!

 

How do I set up a fundraising page?
Once you sign up to the event, you will be asked whether you want to create an online fundraising page (to sign up to the event, please click here). Once you have selected yes to creating one, you can personalise your page and share it with your friends and family.

How will I get my Sparkle T-shirt, Medal & Bunny Ears?
Your Sparkle medal will be sent in your fundraising pack (these will be sent out in August).

You can collect both your T-shirt and bunny ears (if requested) from T-shirt collection at the Vertu Toyota Showroom (2 Lockoford Lane, Sheffield Road, Chesterfield, S41 7HY)

Collection dates will be on Tuesday 7th September (9am – 5pm) and Wednesday 8th September (9am – 5pm).

If you are unable to collect your pack from us at these times or you need a pack sending to a location outside of North Derbyshire, please email events@ashgatehospicecare.org.uk and we’ll be happy to help.

 

When will I receive my fundraising pack?
Fundraising packs will be sent out in August, ready for your Virtual Challenge in September.

 

Can I volunteer for this event?
Due to the event being virtual, we won’t need any volunteers for Virtual Sparkle. However, we are need in volunteers for the physical Sparkle Night Walk on Saturday 25th September.

We are so grateful for each and every person that gives up their Saturday night to support this amazing event. Please email events@ashgatehospicecare.org.uk if you are interested in volunteering at this event and a member of our Events Team will be in touch.

 

Now that Covid-19 is easing, why can’t the physical event hold as many participants as usual?
Safety is always the first priority of every event we run and, as a hospice, we have even more responsibility to our local community to protect our patients, staff, volunteers, and supporters. Even though the government guidelines have relaxed, there remains stringent measures on large scale events like Sparkle Night Walk that we must adhere to. Your fundraising is more vital to us than ever, and we believe this is the safest way we can all still Sparkle together in 2021 and raise funds that are so vital to continuing our care for patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families across North Derbyshire.

 

I haven’t received my fundraising pack, what should I do?
Please email our Supporter Engagement team at set@ashgatehospicecare.org.uk or call them on 01246 567250 who will discuss and sort this for you.

 

I have called but can’t seem to get through, are the phone lines currently not working?
